Mr. Farayi Madziwa, the Readiness Program Officer for the Adaptation Fund, spoke to the UN University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa about climate finance readiness for Africa. He considers the best strategy to be a “holistic approach to climate change… which addresses multiple things in parallel”, including financing, programming and capacity building for climate action. Mr Madziwa notes that so far it has been a struggle for developing countries to access climate finance, and that is why the Adaptation Fund is working with 12-14 organizations to facilitate and coordinate capacity building and readiness support for adaptation, specifically in Africa.
