Adapting to climate change through integrated water management in Panama
The project funded by the Adaptation Fund in Panama implemented by Fundación Natura has released two videos, where local cattle farmers demonstrate effective adaptation practices related to sustainable farming.
The first video (CUBA 22) shows an efficient way to plant nourishing green fields for cattle that lowers deforestation and saves farmers money at the same time, while the second video (Silos) demonstrates how farmers are adapting to dry seasons exacerbated by climate change by producing dry plant feed that can be sustained in silos from pastures harvested in specific timeframes.
Making silos for grain storage and animal feed and use of CUBA 22 grass for feeding livestock in the dry season are parts of the practices applied as climate smart adaptation measures for sustainable livestock raising and increased adaptation capacity.
