New meteorological stations were recently installed in the Chaco region in Argentina for the family farming project funded by the Adaptation Fund. The project is implemented by UCAR, the national implementing entity of Argentina.
The meteorological stations measure weather variables such as temperature and humidity, rainfall, soil temperature, atmospheric pressure and wind. Improved monitoring is helping small farmers in subsistence agricultural systems cope with increasingly variable weather caused by the climate change. The goal is also to improve institutional capacity for climate change assessment and decision-making in northern Argentina.
